Freezer Beef

All our beef for 2024 is sold.  We will begin taking orders for 2025 beef in January.

Are you looking for a way to purchase high quality, affordable, sustainably raised, local beef?  Look no further than Yankey Farms.

We raise black Angus cattle at Yankey Farms. Our cattle spend their entire lives grazing our pastures. We supplement with some homegrown shelled corn and high quality hay for the last 120 days to assist in marbling the meat for improved tenderness and flavor. We do not use hormone implants or feed antibiotics.   We only administer antibiotics if we have animal that gets sick with a bacterial infection.  These types of infections are rare and most of the time our animals never need antibiotics.

Our beef is available for 2024 from May-September.   We use two local butcher shops.  Adams Custom Slaughter in Amissville, and Fauquiers Finest Butcher Shop in Bealeton.  We sell our steers by the whole, half, or quarter.   Whole animals and halves will be cut to your specifications.  Quarters are only available as a standard cut.

Prices for 2024 are $5.50/lb of hanging weight for quarters, $5.25/lb of hanging weight for halves, and $5.00/lb hanging weight for whole animals. So for a 600 pound hanging weight steer, the cost for the whole animal will be $3000, and the cost for a half will be $1575 and a quarter will be $825. You will be responsible for paying for the butchering costs. Which work out to about $1.00 per pound of hanging weight or somewhere around $200 per quarter for a 600lb. carcass.  You will pick the beef up directly from the butcher.  It will be frozen and ready to go in your freezer.

There is approximately 100-125 lbs. of cut and wrapped beef per quarter. Roughly 25% of the meat is steaks, 25% roasts, and 50% ground beef. You need 2-3 cu. ft. of freezer space per quarter.
